What Is Yoga Therapy?
Yoga is the practice of creating a union by balancing and harmonizing the body, mind, and breath through asana, pranayama, and meditation. Therapy is a process to relieve or heal a particular physical, mental or emotional dis-ease within the body or mind. Yoga therapy brings together ancient wisdom, married with modern anatomical and scientific knowledge to offer a natural, holistic way to activate the body’s own healing potential.
Yoga therapy opens up the connections of mind, heart, and body allowing you to surrender to the power of the present moment through skillful guidance and loving care.
Sally will provide a safe space for you to express yourself, enabling you to find your own way with minimal intervention. Sally believes that learning together allows you the client and she as therapist to attain a deeper awareness of you, improving your own understanding of your body’s capacities and capabilities and to harness these in a loving and caring way.
What Will Happen?
Prior to the first session, Sally will ask you to complete a therapy form where you will provide information about your general health and any previous and current specific issues to be considered.
You and Sally can review this information at the first session and discuss relevant information regarding your daily routines, lifestyle choices (diet, sleep, activity), and what you hope to achieve from the sessions in the short and long term.
Sally will assess and carefully design your unique programme and provide you with tools and techniques that you will be able to use from the very first day of your treatment. You and Sally can then decide together the exact practice(s) and a short programme will be completed by Sally so you can take it away with you.
In subsequent sessions, there will be a brief review of how the practice is developing, with ongoing guidance as required and elements changed, or additional tools added as needed.
